🌾 Boots to Scrubs Mentorship Program 2026

🌟 A Fresh New Structure for 2026

Starting medical school away from home can feel overwhelming — especially when you’re moving from a rural community into a major regional or metropolitan centre. The Boots to Scrubs Mentorship Program exists to make that transition smoother, more connected, and grounded in the rural values that shaped you.

2026 marks an exciting evolution of the program, with a renewed focus on face‑to‑face connection, community building, and support that feels personal and real.

📍 Now in Five Key University Hubs

To better support rural students where they study, Boots to Scrubs is expanding into five major locations:

  • Wagga

  • Orange

  • Newcastle

  • Sydney

  • Port Macquarie

Each location will host small, close‑knit groups of rural first‑year medical students, creating space for genuine friendships, shared experiences, and in‑person activities that help you feel at home — even when you’re far from it.

🤝 Mentorship That Truly Understands the Rural Journey

Every mentee is thoughtfully matched with a mentor who shares a similar background and lived experience. Mentors include:

  • Junior doctors from rural backgrounds

  • Final‑year medical students who’ve walked the same path

Your mentor is more than someone to ask questions — they’re your advocate, your sounding board, and your supporter as you navigate the academic, social, and personal challenges of your first year.

Join the 2026 Program

Whether you’re a first‑year medical student looking for support or a mentor ready to give back, we’d love to welcome you into the Boots to Scrubs community.
