Boots to Scrubs is launching a brand-new scholarship in 2026.
Open to rural female medical students in their clinical years of placement who are completing a minimum of 6 months (one semester) of rural placement in 2027. The scholarship will be open from the 1st of October and close at Midnight (AEST) on the 31st of October.

The selection panel is seeking applicants who show dedication to their community, a commitment to healthcare, and a clear need for support. The Boots to Scrubs Scholarship aims to ease financial pressure so students can focus on their studies-and ultimately give back to the communities that inspired them.
As part of the application process, applicants are asked to provide information about:
Your Story: Share who you are, your background, and what has shaped your journey so far. We encourage applicants to reflect on their rural upbringing or connection to rural life, and how these experiences have influenced their drive to enter the healthcare field.
Your Current Study Pathway: Provide details about your current course or planned healthcare studies. This may include your institution, year level, areas of interest, and your long-term aspirations within the healthcare sector.
Your Financial Need: Demonstrate your financial circumstances and explain how this scholarship would support your education. You may be asked to upload supporting documentation such as financial statements, Centrelink information (if applicable), or any other evidence that helps us understand your current situation.
2026 Student Scholarship
Scholarship applications for 2026 have now closed.
Our scholarship program is designed to support first-year female medical students from rural backgrounds as they embark on their journey into medicine.
These scholarships not only provide financial relief but also include year-long mentorship by inspiring women already thriving in rural medicine.
The scholarships are flexible and can be used to assist with relocation fees, textbooks, accommodation costs, online study resources, general living expenses, and any other expenses encountered throughout the challenging journey of medical school.
By easing these financial and emotional burdens, the Boots to Scrubs Scholarship empowers students to focus on their studies and make a meaningful impact in rural healthcare.
